My Korean Reality/Variety Show Addiction… 헐!

It’s been two years since I resigned from my previous work… two years of rest… two years of being a bum. (Sigh! That’s two years already?!) The transition from having a busy 9-hour work, to becoming a simple individual was not easy. From the four years I’ve stayed with the company trying to become a successful busy bee career woman, to having no worries of meetings and deadlines is just… wow! The change was so great that it took me a few years to really get used to it. (Well, I’ll just tell you the stories behind that and all on another post) Anyway, with those two years, I had to do some thing/s to pass the time (so as not to go literally crazy hehehe!) One of my diversions then were catching up to a lot of movies and korean tv series that I hadn’t get the chance to see when I was still working… It was one of those series’ that lead me in discovering korean variety shows. It was Dream High (드림하이), a comedy, semi-musical and romance series that ran for 16 episodes (plus 1). It was a story about the lives of six teens who aspire to become Kpop idols. They were all enrolled in the same Academy where they auditioned (got accepted) and trained on how to become one. The story revolves around their individual and joint struggles in reaching their dreams.

I’ve watched a lot of foreign musical films and series in the past but it was my first time seeing one in korean tv. I really got hooked on it (and its soundtrack :P). But one character in the series really stood out for me – Jason (played by 2PM’s Jang Wooyoung [장우영]). Instantly I became a fan ♥. After it has ended, it took me a while to find another series to watch, where in my opinion, will be as good as the previous one. That’s how much I loved it. While still in the process of searching, I just thought of googling Wooyoung’s name to find out the other shows he was in to. His name then led me to Running Man ep. 162. From then on, my weekends were never the same again 😀 lolz!

It started with one variety show, then it became two, and before I knew it, I was watching and looking forward to new episodes of a total of ten shows :P. I’ll give you an in-depth details of each in another post since it’s quite a lot hihihi! For now, here’s the list of shows I am currently addicted to: 😀
